Purbeck Arts Week 2026
This year, we were incredibly fortunate not only to be involved in Purbeck Art Weeks, but also to welcome the talented local artist Sophie Jenkins, who delivered a brilliant and creative workshop for our young people based on this year’s theme of birds. Sophie chose the nightingale as the inspiration, and through painting and map-making, our young people explored and recreated the bird’s migration journey. During the full-day workshop, they worked collaboratively to create a large banner, which will be displayed at the local Mowlem Theatre during the festival. Once the festival has ended, the banner will return to us at Corfe, and we can’t wait to proudly display it here as a lasting reminder of this special project.
Volunteering
We understand how important and valuable it is for our young people to have opportunities to experience different workplaces and explore a variety of career paths by asking questions and gaining hands-on experience. We are incredibly grateful to our local animal rescue centre, Margaret Green, for providing this opportunity and for working with our young people on a weekly basis. Margaret Green is a well-established and wonderful charity that cares for and rehomes a wide range of animals. Through this partnership, our young people have been learning the daily routines involved in animal care, including mucking out, maintaining the centre, and supporting the care of the animals alongside the dedicated staff, including working with the horses. We are so thankful for their time, dedication, and support in providing these valuable real-life experiences for our young people at Corfe, with many going on to build on the skills they have developed here as they progress to Kingston Maurward College.
